Whilst I do not claim to be a great software programmer, I have written a few applications over the years, generally for my own use. Some were intended to make my life easier, others to demonstrate power generation processes to trainees, whilst some were just a case of could I do it.
Below are a few examples that may be of use. Please feel free to download, install and try them out.

SyncSIM (Generator electrical synchronising tool)
The generator synchronising simulator as presented is based upon a 2 pole turbo-generator that will be connected to a 50 Hz grid. The operating window is based on a usual DCS screen layout however many unnecessary controls have been omitted for clarity.
Software is available for macOS (Intel/ARM) and Windows (x86).
CoalSIM (Coal Fired power plant simulator)
This simulation represents a rather basic model of a 150MW (gross) single unit superheated Rankine cycle power plant with a pulverised coal fired boiler.
The aim is to perform a cold start of the boiler and turbine and once synchronised to the electrical grid increase load to the unit maximum of approx. 150 MW. Once this load is reached a score will be given on your performance, taking into account the fuel usage, auxiliary power consumption and any environmental limits that have been exceeded. To achieve a perfect score of 100% may require a few attempts.
Additionally this simulator can be used as a basic training tool, allowing unit start up, shut down and responses to various faults to be trialled.

NucSIM (Nuclear power plant simulator)
This simulation represents a rather basic model of a 3500MW (thermal) Pressurised Water Reactor with attached steam turbine for electrical power generation. Whilst it is more of a proof of concept to demonstrate what is easily possible with a small amount of programming effort it still may be of some use in educating non nuclear power plant operating stage. Actual plant staff training should be undertaken on a much more comprehensive/expensive simulator.
